Stacie and Zach

India’s 1st day of School!

Tuesday was India’s 1st day of school. Zach and I were both able to go with her, what a treat. We met her teacher and the principal. It was a lot of fun and India is really excited… mostly about riding the bus.

Yesterday, though, she was very sad that she wouldn’t be returning to her little school and almost cried while she said “I will miss my friends from my little school. I will never see them again.” Break my heart!I told her that we could have play dates with her old friends any time.

She is excited to get to know her new class mates. It is cool that they are mostly kids who live close to us! What a concept.

Kids’ photo shoot

Today we had a picnic! It was pretty cool outside and our yard has a lot of shade. I really, really wanted to be outside. I have been weening myself from my crutches since Friday and I felt today was the day.
With a bit of planning we made it out ate and had a little photo shoot with India.
After Ezra’s nap he was really happy and in these cute shorts so I thought he should have a turn in front of the camera too.
I have been inspired by so many other photographers and their sites and blogs that I really want to photograph. I think being stuck really has gotten me motivated. Thankfully this is a temporary condition, and I’ve got some willing subjects otherwise I would really go crazy.

India’s Silly Face

Today was a day of photos. India was helping me paint the ring of a mobile we are making for Ezra’s room and got some paint on her eye. How do they do that??? It looked so cute I had to photograph her. She has become quite the character in front of the camera. She loves it and does silly things for me to photograph. Then she’ll say “I wanna see!” and laugh at her funny faces. These were actually taken with her upside-down on the arm of the couch. They look much better flipped this way.

Ezra with Aunt Teri

Ezra also got some influence from the girls. This was while I was in Cali for Christina’s wedding. Teri, Kim (my chum from HS) and I all chatted away over lunch. It was lots of fun and I think Ezra enjoyed all the girl talk too. Oh, and Teri’s braids. I think he liked her braids the best.

Ezra and Caiden

While in California Ezra got to spend time with lots of boys. Caiden and Austin, his two cousins, and his really buff Uncle Dean.

Another Visit to California

This time we sped out to California so we could be with my mom after her surgery. A brain tumor was found and removed. As you can imagine, pretty scary stuff. Luckily the tumor was slow growing and operable. They removed it all, so they say, and there is no talk of radiation or anything that will make her hair fall out. Not that she has much now. She is doing much better than before the surgery and is very close to being her old self.

This trip isn’t one I wanted to make but it was nice to see the family even under these circumstances. India and Ezra got to see Aunts and Uncles again and keep connected with the extended family.

Unfortunately I didn’t take any pictures while with my family. I guess things were a little bit stressful and I didn’t really think to take my camera out. But while at Zach’s parents’ the camera came out. This is India and Ezra on Grandma and Grandpa’s cool black leather couch.
